“Creating environments that inspire intimacy with God, relationship with others and influence in our world”Our Vision

RiverCity Inc was birthed through an outpouring of God within a few people in the early 80’s, one being David McDonald who became the first Pastor. Over the past 35 years the church has had an impact on the community and has seen many other churches planted across NSW….

Formally known as Christian Outreach Centre it has grown into an international movement of churches.

International Network Churches are governed by a national executive. Pastors are accountable to the national executive. There is also an appointed state chairman and regional chairman that support and oversee the various local churches.

In this way churches remain connected and supported, remaining as one church meeting in different locations. At a local level pastors in most cases are appointed by the national executive but have a local committee of management that form to oversee the day to day operations and support the local pastor.

At RiverCity as in most churches, there is the appointment of other leaders and pastors that lead the various departments or areas of the church, for example, Pastoral visitation, children’s or youth ministry. More information on inc can be found at www.inc.org.au

We act with genuine faith.

Genuine faith recognises that we are a people who give our lives to bring hope to others and change the world. (1 John 3:16)

We choose to grow.

We will always move towards being grounded and strengthened in our faith. God changes us and we accept that and through us he begins to change others. (Colossians 2:6, 7)

We keep focused.

Prayer keeps us focused on what is important and keeps us in tune with the vision God has for our lives and our community. (Philippians 4:6)

We lead the way in generosity.

We are a people who generously give resources in money, time and energy, our actions and praise to the work of God in our community. (Luke 6:38)

We stay in harmony.

We are people that stay true to ourselves and who God has called us to be. We have fun, we laugh, and we enjoy ourselves. We desire to creatively express the gift of God on our lives.   (Ephesians 2:10)

We Honor.

We freely give honor to those above us, beside us and under us because of the calling and potential God has placed inside of them.

We stay connected.

Generously we believe investing in authentic and accountable relationships help our faith in God grow and our lives flourish. (1 Peter 4:8)

About the Scriptures

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

About God

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.

About Humanity

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian Life

We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

About the Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.

Wayne and Kathy Tyrie arrived in 2012 to take the role of senior Pastors after the retirement of Pastors Ron and Lynne Jones who had served faithfully in the role for over 22 years.

Their ministry is characterised by a passionate love for the Lord Jesus Christ, a fervent desire to see the lost bought into a committed relationship with Him, and a mandate to demonstrate how believers can live a life allowing the plans and purposes of God to shine in their lives along with the power of the Holy Spirit being evident in their everyday living.

Together, they have been called by God to influence the city of Taree and surrounding with strong leadership, compassion and love for people. To see the fulfillment of His Great Commission of making disciples.

Wayne and Kathy have been in full time ministry for the past 15 years both here in Australia and overseas. They have served as lead Pastors as well as on the mission front delivering aid and development in under developed countries.

Wayne and Kathy have a heart for the church, the family of believers that Jesus loves, died for and will return for. They love the company of family, holidays, movies and hanging out with great friends.
